長場雄の2つの個展で展示された作品を収めた作品集を6/10より刊行。
ドローイングを主な表現方法として選んできた長場が支持体をキャンバスに移行するきっかけとなった個展「Express More with Less」(GALLERY TARGET, 2019)、その方向性をさらに発展させ、立体作品や4メートルの巨大作品なども発表した「The Last Supper」(SAI, 2020)の2つの個展で展示した作品が掲載されている。
掲載作品には、エースホテルのメモパッドに描かれた作品をそのまま拡大した長場の代名詞ともいえるシリーズの他、街を歩く匿名の人物のポートレートを描いたシリーズ、鏡面を意識したステンレス製の立体作品、送ることやその時間までも作品の中に内包したポストカード作品のシリーズなどが掲載されている。
デザインは2015年に自費出版された作品集『I DRAW』に引き続き前田晃伸が、写真は白石和弘が手がけた。2つの個展について語る長場のインタビューも掲載。限定1000部。
また、限定50部の特装版も同時に発売。シルクプリントと作品集を収めることのできる箱が同梱された豪華版。
「絵を描く時に、その線の数というか、描き込んだりということはなるべくしないで、どう表現できるのか。それをこの作風になってから、すごく意識しています。無機質にならないようにするというか。線に味をもたせるというところでしょうか」
A collection containing pieces shown in two solo exhibitions by Yu Nagaba.
In his exhibition "Express More with Less" (GALLERY TARGET, 2019), Yu Nagaba shifted from his usual drawing style by using canvas. This was further developed in his exhibition "The Last Supper" (SAI, 2020), which also included three-dimensional works as well as bigger works measuring up to 4 meters.
Also showcased are artworks taken from the Ace Hotel notepads series (a collection that has become a signature piece for Yu) which were enlarged onto canvas, as well as portraits of everyday people walking around in the city. Also included are pictures of a three dimensional steel work with a mirror surface, as well as artworks on actually sent postcards, complete with date stamps and tear received during shipping.
Continuing on from his work on Yu Nagaba’s 2015 self-published collection "I DRAW", the book is designed by Akinobu Maeda, with photographs by Kazuhiro Shiraishi. Including in the book is an interview with Yu Nagaba discussing his two solo exhibitions. Limited edition of 1,000 copies.
In addition, a special limited edition of 50 copies will also be released at the same time. This special edition includes a box cover to hold the silk prints as well as the book.
